(Even) she couldn't fix this computer.
As in the above
sentence, sae,
when used, replaces the particles
ga
(and
wa
or o),
but it follows after all other particles.
Example:
Koko kara takusii
de Ginza made
de sae
ichijikann gurai kakarimasu yo.
here from taxi Ginza one hour takes
(From) here (by) taxi (even to just) Ginza takes (about) one
hour!
sae
is also used
in clauses with conditional (If...) forms of
verbs to indicate that what precedes it is (or was) a prerequisite
for the
fuilfillment of the condition.
Examples:
Okane
sae
areba mondai wa arimasen.
money if have problem not
If (we) (just) had (some) money, there (would) be no problem.
Renshuu
sae
sureba Nihongo ga dekiru you ni narimasu yo.
practice if do Japanese able become
If (you) (just) practice (you) (will) become able (to speak)
Japanese.
Ginza ni
sae
ikeba nan demo arimasu yo.
Ginza if go everything have
If (you) (just) go (to) Ginza (they) have everything (there).
Sensei
de
sae
wakarimasen desita.
teacher did not know
(Even) (the) teacher did not know (it).
Ano gurai no koto
wa boku de
sae
dekimasu yo.
that something I can do
(Even) I can do something (as simple as) that!
Tanaka-san
de
sae
kono kanji wa yomemasen desita.
Tanaka-san this kanji could not read
(Even) Tanaka-san could not read this kanji.
Doryoku
de
sae
sureba nan demo dekimasu yo.
effort if do can do anything
If (you) (just) make efforts (you) can do anything.
Nihongo no joshi
no tukaikata sae
oboereba hanaseru you ni narimasu yo.
Nihongo particle usage if learn will become able speak
If (you) (just) learn Japanese particle usage (you) will become able
to speak.
Okane
sae
areba nan demo kaemasu yo.
money if have anything can buy
If (you) (just) have money (you) can buy anything!
